Questions and Answers about Jarrow Formulas, MK-7, Vitamin K2 as MK-7

    Have a Question?

    Ask a Question
    • What is vitamin K2 as MK-7 good for?

Vitamin K2 as MK-7 is particularly beneficial for bone and cardiovascular health. It plays a crucial role in helping the body properly utilize calcium, directing it to the bones where it's needed while preventing it from accumulating in soft tissues like arteries. This dual action can potentially support both bone strength and arterial flexibility. MK-7 is a long-acting form of K2, providing sustained benefits throughout the day.

    • Who should not take vitamin K2 MK-7?

While vitamin K2 MK-7 is generally considered safe for most people, certain individuals should exercise caution or avoid its use. Those taking blood-thinning medications like warfarin should consult with their healthcare provider before taking K2, as it can interfere with the medication's effectiveness.

    • How much vitamin K2 MK-7 per day?

The optimal daily dosage of vitamin K2 MK-7 can vary depending on individual needs and health goals. Common dosage recommendations range from 45 to 180 micrograms per day for general health support. Higher doses may be recommended for specific health conditions or therapeutic purposes.

    • Which is better vitamin K2 MK-4 or MK-7?

Both MK-4 and MK-7 are forms of vitamin K2, each with its own benefits. MK-7 is often considered superior for supplementation due to its longer half-life in the body, meaning it can provide more sustained benefits throughout the day. MK-7 is also typically effective at lower doses compared to MK-4.

    • Is vitamin K2 MK-7 good for kidneys?

Vitamin K2 MK-7 is not known to have direct negative effects on kidney function in healthy individuals. In fact, some research suggests that K2 may have potential benefits for kidney health by helping to prevent calcium accumulation in soft tissues.

    • How long does it take vitamin K2 to clear arteries?

The process of arterial health improvement with vitamin K2 supplementation is gradual and can take time. Some studies have shown beneficial effects on arterial stiffness and calcification over periods ranging from several months to years of consistent supplementation.
